About the Author

Patricia Alma Lee

Patricia Alma Lee (Pat Lee) is a genuine, middle-class Midwesterner who grew up in NORMAL, Illinois. She lived there with her parents, Jeanne and Don, from age 4 to nearly age 18 until she went to University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She studied English, writing, and health. Although Pat moved to the greater Chicago area after graduating, she continued to have strong ties in NORMAL through her parents, friends from Second Presbyterian Church, and neighbors, first at 111 Eastview Dr. and then at 303 Augustine Way. Both her parents lived out their lives in NORMAL.

About The book

You’ll be happy you bought this book!

NORMAL-ISH is short and sweet with just a little bit of bitter. I wrote this book to honor the family I grew up in and describe through short-short stories (also called flash nonfiction) and poems some of our many joys and sorrows. We, who grew up in corn country and loved it, seemed to have had more time in the late 50s, 60s and early 70s as kids) to think and reflect. We took long walks (Funk’s Grove) and bike rides (everywhere!) and enjoyed the (mostly) quiet of nature (Lake Bloomington and Anderson park).
